Have you ever noticed that bickering, irritating annoyances, eye rolling along with all of the special ways we have of annoying each other all tend to surface when, money is at it's lowest and our need is at it's highest? When you should be enjoying a special family holiday moment;however, you are imaging just how your spouse would rather look with dinner in his lap, you know he may be near! When the anticipated emotions of the holiday season become the complete opposite because of bickering over the littlest of insignificant details that matters to no one; know that the time of year is rapidly approaching 'his time of year'. When these and many other emotions and petty arguments become the forefront of most every comment or question, to the point of even embarrassing you; then know that just as you mouth the words to the holiday song, 'he's coming to town', it must be the holiday season again and we aren't talking about Santa coming, but rather it's Satan and his host of misfits!

Why? Many of thinker has thought, 'why does this happen during the holidays' to most 'normal' families. However, the simple reason evades most, because it is so very simple. The answer to the question is because a Christian family is the model of the relationship we are to have with God. So no wonder Satan and all his flunkies are constantly at work trying to destroy our Christian families to mock God! And at what better time of year to mock our God? Of coarse the sacred holiday time of year! However, we need to see Satan's attacks as nothing more than his LAST hoorah before he must except without a doubt, his total defeat Jesus has given him! We don't have to play ball with him or dance to his tune! Don't forget the reasons and end up thinking you must continue this mockery each and every year in the exact same way. No, the battle is over, the war has been won, the victory party is yet to come-but soon it will come! Jesus has won and Satan has lost! Try to be conscience of these points during the next weeks and months as we all will find ourselves trying to do our very best to have a wonderful holiday season; just with a lot less money than we normally would have! So remember the holidays brings on the proper mental and emotional stress and the lack of money along with Satan's hijinks just make it all the more truly insufferable and memorable!

The playing field this year as in all years will be the miserable economic conditions, that are just as worst as they could ever be for most of you. Still don't allow Satan to entice you to 'play' on his 'field of mockery'. Remind your family that when times are their hardest, when 'holiday tempers' flare easily, when the amount on the price tag on a gift is more important than the gift itself, it isn't time to buckle under! No, simply know the 'WHY' and the 'the living truth' and you will find the most comfortable of ways out of the muck and will have a wonderful family holiday.

One more thing each and every member of the family must know, and must be reminded of often. Just one word can send Satan running and whimpering like a kicked puppy; and that one word is Jesus! Because Jesus beat sin and death with his suffering, dieing and rising from the dead, all we must do is use His holy name, out loud or within, to chase Satan and anything to do with Satan away!

So I think we Christians should just come out and admit it first hand for our benefits. This holiday season is going to be much more difficult, because of less money and in some cases, with no money and no shelter! Prices will be higher because of increased costs and less items being sold. However, as a Christian family you can prepare your family to celebrate the sacred season, and not just a tree loaded with wrapped presents. The 'living truth of the holiday', and the sacred meaning is so much more important than any gift, belonging, a house or a fancy meal! Those secular 'things' or the lack of those 'things' can't change the 'living truth' of the sacred holiday and the very meaning it has to us all. The 'living meaning' is that our loving God, knowing of our sinning, came down and became just like one of us. He lived the life we are suppose to. He also died the death we should have because of our sinning, and He arose from the grave and defeated death for all of us! This means simply that each Christan is going to now live forever in paradise. That is the 'living truth'! Once one knows of this truth, nothing else can compares to immortality with a God who loves us! If we never get our family's too 'in' to all the secular parts of the holidays, they will understand and know the 'living truth'. Lastly, you parents need to find comfort in this following fact. No matter how bad times are, this is a special time of year that bad times can't over-shadow. The joy of the 'living truth' is so grand, that nothing can even come close! Any special times spent in activities of the season with loved ones, whatever family 'activity' you deem necessary, will always be the time that will create life-long, warm and cozy, holiday memories for your children. Try to make it a time of less 'loud talking' and bickering, and have fun with your family and make this the best holiday ever! Focus on what you have and what you have in the 'living truth'! Just as one or both parents can make it a time of pain and sadness, they can also turn things around the right way and make it the very best and special time possible.

Lastly, because you know Satan is coming to town to attempt to wreck your marriage and to destroy your children's sense of security and belonging; you can prepare your family and still have a special sacred celebration, that he can't stick his nose into!
